Marburn Education Collaborative

Marburn Education Collaborative, a Marburn Academy program, increases access to community resources and services for students who learn differently. Educational programming for students in grades K-8 is available now at our Columbus West location at 1650 Watermark Drive, Suite 120, Columbus, OH 43215.

Programs include:
Free Early Reading Screenings (K-2nd grade)
For more than 15 years, Marburn has offered Free Early Reading Screenings (FERS) to the central Ohio community. These screenings offer an accessible resource to caregivers of kindergarten, first, and second graders who have questions or concerns about their child's reading development. While the screening is not a diagnostic tool, it does identify if a child is likely to encounter difficulty learning to read.

The FERS program allows experts from Marburn to provide information on a child's mastery of critical early literacy skills, such as phonological awareness, letter recognition, and letter sounds. After the screening is complete, Marburn will discuss the results with the caregiver and the recommended next steps. Please note that this program is NOT designed to diagnose any specific learning disability.

Orton-Gillingham Tutoring: Reading (K-5th grade) & Reading Comprehension/Writing (K-8th grade)
Tutoring is focused on building academic skills, remediating areas of need, and developing confidence as a learner. Lessons are emotionally sound, diagnostic, multi-sensory, hands-on, and individualized for your child's needs. Students attend tutoring twice per week for a period of 30-60 minutes.

Tutoring Benefits
- Tutors get to know your child's strengths and challenges to create lessons that work for them.
- Tutors are trained and supervised by Marburn in the best practices of teaching reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Receive communication about your child's progress on a regular basis.

Cost
Small Group (2-3 students): $20 per session*
One-on-One: $65 per session*
*Financial aid is available based on individual family need.
