Public Open House for Wheatland Ave Improvements

The City of Columbus would like to invite you to an upcoming open house meeting on Tuesday, June 20th from 4:30-6:30PM at Holton Rec Center (303 N. Eureka Ave, 43204) to discuss proposed improvements to North Wheatland Avenue from West Broad Street to Glenview Boulevard in Franklin County. As this is an open house style meeting, you’re welcome to stop by whenever is convenient for you between the two times listed above to learn more about the project, chat with project team members, ask questions, and submit your feedback.

The project will convert Wheatland Avenue to two-way traffic and widen to accommodate on-street parking north of Grace Street to Glenview Avenue. Additionally, a connection between the new sidewalk at the northern end and the existing Sullivant Trace Trail in Glenview Park will be established. Other necessary enhancements include the installation of new curbs, sidewalks, storm sewers, and utility relocations. Construction for the project is tentatively scheduled to begin in summer 2024 and is expected to last approximately one year.

The acquisition of both permanent and temporary right-of-way for construction purposes is anticipated, as well as utility relocations. It is worth noting that traffic flow in the northbound direction on Wheatland Avenue will be maintained throughout the construction period. However, access to alleys will be affected, and it is likely that on-street parking on Wheatland Avenue will be impacted.
