Community Crime Patrol

Community Crime Patrol, Inc. (CCP) is a not-for-profit, community-based, crime prevention organization that deploys teams of specifically-trained citizen patrollers in several neighborhoods around Columbus, Ohio. Acting as a set of eyes and ears for the Columbus Division of Police, CCP has a basic mission of getting the police to situations where they are needed. CCP is a group of highly-trained citizen patrollers working to increase safety in Columbus neighborhoods. Equipped only with flashlights, two-way radios, and their training, CCP patrollers deter criminals, build neighborhood awareness of crime prevention techniques, assist in the apprehension of suspects, and provide first aid when needed. There are currently 15-20 patrollers in five neighborhoods, including the Hilltop and Franklinton. CCP is headquartered in the Moody Hall Neighborhood Policing Center (248 E 11th Ave, Columbus, OH 43201).

Implemented in April 1995, CCP-Hilltop works in cooperation with a CPD Officer assigned to carry our radio and is staffed six nights per week (excepting Sundays) from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. An additional unit is assigned Sunday - Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. to midnight.

CCP-Franklinton. was implemented in April 1996, with teams patrolling six nights per week (excepting Sundays) from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. An additional unit is assigned Sunday - Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. to midnight.
